DVD Description

As the lead guitarist for Guns N' Roses, Slash established himself as one of hard rock's finest and most soulful soloists during the late '80s, technically adept yet always firmly grounded in the gritty Aerosmith and Stones licks he loved. Slash was born Saul Hudson on July 23, 1965, in Stoke-on-Trent, England, to artistic parents both involved in the entertainment industry; his mother was a clothing designer who worked on David Bowie's film The Man Who Fell to Earth, and his father designed album art for such artists as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. The family eventually moved to Hollywood, where Hudson attended junior high, received his first guitar, and met future GNR drummer Steven Adler. With Hudson adopting the nickname Slash, given to him by a family friend, the two formed a band called Road Crew; although it proved unsuccessful, it was the vehicle through which they met and eventually joined up with the other members of Guns N' Roses.

Legends is one of the most musically accomplished super groups of all time. With Eric Clapton on guitar, Joe Sample of The Crusaders on keyboards, virtuoso saxophone player David Sanborn and super session players Steve Gadd on drums and Marcus Miller on bass, both of whom have done time in Clapton's band, the group's pedigree is extraordinary. Marcus Miller put the Legends band together for a European tour in 1997. They never made an album and this concert at Montreux is the only record of their stunning collaboration. Amazing Journey _ A Tribute To THE WHO

Amazing Journey, Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy's all-star tribute to The Who, featuring Paul Gilbert, Billy Sheehan and Gary Cherone, is now available. The DVD, CD includes the entire concert recorded at BB King's in New York City on May 31st 2006.

Amazing Journey is the fourth (and likely final, according to the drummer’s web site) in a series of tribute bands assembled by Mike Portnoy. It only played in three special shows across America. Portnoy also assembled Yellow Matter Custard, a Beatles tribute band that included Neil Morse, Paul Gilbert and Matt Bissonette and played at the same venue in 2005, and Hammer of the Gods (a Led Zeppelin tribute with Mr. Big's Paul Gilbert on guitar, Dixie Dregs' Dave LaRue on bass and Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw on vocals), and Cygnus and his Sea Monsters (tribute to Rush, featuring Gilbert on guitar, Sean Malone on bass and Jason McMaster on vocals.).
